Electromate Highlights Tolomatic RSX128 Electric Actuator with Force up to 100,000 lb

Roller screw actuator supports hydraulic cylinder replacement in demanding industrial applications

Electromate highlights Tolomatic’s RSX128 electric linear actuator for Canadian machine builders evaluating alternatives to hydraulic cylinders. Rated for up to 100,000 lbf (445 kN), the RSX128 brings high force capacity to electrically controlled linear motion.

The RSX128 design uses precision-ground planetary roller screws and is designed for 100 percent duty cycle. Applications include assembly, metal pressing, punching and clamping, automotive production, timber processing and motion simulation.

Standard IP65 protection and optional IP67 protection support operation in demanding environments. Heavy-duty tie rods, hard-coat anodized aluminum housings and an internal anti-rotation feature form part of the actuator’s construction. Re-lubrication access and a breather/purge port support maintenance and contamination management.

Tolomatic’s Your Motor Here configuration accommodates servo motors and gearboxes up to 215 mm frame size. Configurable strokes and mounting options let you specify the ideal actuator for your machine. A custom food-grade version uses white epoxy coating and stainless-steel components for appropriate washdown applications.

Engineers considering hydraulic replacement should provide their required force, stroke, speed, motion profile and operating environment to Electromate. These requirements guide actuator selection and the matching of servo motors, drives and motion controls. Maximum force and continuous operation must be assessed against the selected configuration and application.
