Proline Promag H: The Hygienic Flowmeter Now with the ‘0 x DN’ Full Bore Option for Unrestricted Measurement in Any Flow
Even in confined spaces, such as on skids, Proline Promag devices with the 0 x DN full-bore option measure accurately – without cross-sectional narrowing and therefore without pressure loss.

Proline Promag H: The Hygienic Flowmeter Now with the ‘0 x DN’ Full Bore Option for Unrestricted Measurement in Any Flow

Six years ago, Endress+Hauser introduced the “0 x DN full bore” option, a patented advance in electromagnetic flowmeter technology that enables accurate measurement independent of the flow profile. The first rollout was for water management (Proline Promag W) and later for industrial applications with corrosive liquids and extremely high fluid temperatures. (Promag P). Now, this exclusive technology is available as an option in all four models of the Promag H series of hygienic flowmeters, covering nominal line sizes DN 40 to 150 (1½ to 6″).

Food and beverages processing strict adherence to hygiene standards and other requirements to maintain food quality. Food safety heavily influences the entire process design. There is a growing need for more compact systems that can be expanded with additional measuring devices on short notice if necessary.

The “0 x DN full bore” option enables precise measurements independent of the flow profile. The flowmeter requires neither inlet and outlet sections nor tube constrictions and can therefore be installed at any mounting location. This can be particular invaluable in the design of skids. With a “0 x DN full bore” flowmeter on board, skids can be smaller with cost-saving advantages from less pipe and welding.

In real production environments, ideal flow conditions are rare. Pipe bends, T-fittings, insertion devices or different inside diameters cause turbulence that distorts the flow profile and affects measuring accuracy. These distortive factors are traditionally prevented by longer inlet and outlet sections or flow constrictions or conditioning devices that calm swirl and stabilize the flow profile. However, sufficiently long straight pipe sections require space while flow constrictions and conditioners cause pressure loss along with higher energy consumption and costs for pump operation.

With “0 x DN full bore,” Endress+Hauser circumvents such limitations. It delivers accurate results regardless of the mounting location: Multiple measuring electrodes detect the flow across the entire pipe cross-section and generate a substantially higher density of measured data than for standard devices. Based on this data, digital signal processing calculates a stable flow profile. The measuring accuracy is ±0.5% – even in unfavorable flow conditions, such as immediately behind pipe bends.

Promag H with “0 x DN full bore” meets the highest hygienic standards. The stainless steel sensor housing complies with 3-A requirements. The PFA lining is media-resistant and CIP/SIP-compatible. Numerous hygienic process connections enable standard-compliant integration into existing systems. This makes the device suitable for applications in the processing of milk, juices, soft drinks, beer and other sensitive liquids, as well as for bioscientific processes.

Promag H can be easily integrated into plant infrastructure via IO-Link. Full access to measurement and diagnostic data – including verification and status information generated by Heartbeat Technology – is possible at any time. Heartbeat Technology enables compliance and process reliability and optimizes calibration intervals.

With the full-bore option for Promag H, Endress+Hauser combines the reliable, flexible and energy-efficient flow measurement with uncompromising hygienic design meeting the highest hygiene requirements. In this way, the world’s leading provider of measuring technology continues to support the food, beverage and life sciences industries’ efforts to improve efficiency while achieving the highest safety standards.
