CCS megawatt charging cables for up to 1,000 kW – High Power Charging reinvented

CCS megawatt charging cables for up to 1,000 kW – High Power Charging reinvented. The second generation of the liquid-cooled CHARX connect professional HPC charging connectors from Phoenix Contact transmits up to 1 MW in boost mode. With this charging power, not only are electric vehicles charged in just a few minutes, but also utility vehicles with large batteries can be quickly ready for use again.

Phoenix Contact is taking ultra-fast HPC charging to a new level with the second generation of liquid-cooled CHARX connect professional CCS charging connectors: 1,000 kW can be transmitted in boost mode, with a constant power of 800 kW. This is made possible by a newly developed cooling concept in which the environmentally and maintenance-friendly coolant for particularly efficient cooling is routed directly through the power wires.

Improved ergonomics in the grip area, flexible cable construction, and reduced weight of the CCS megawatt connector compared to the first generation ensure convenient and easy handling while simultaneously increasing the charging power.

The mating face frame and all contacts in the new HPC charging connector can be replaced easily – without having to open the housing and drain the coolant. This enables cost-effective and sustainable maintenance. In addition to the standard cable end assembly, Phoenix Contact also offers tailored connection concepts for power, signals, and cooling on request to support charging station manufacturers in the construction of their HPC charging stations. In addition, the CCS charging cable enables reliable leak detection and charging process billing compliant with calibration laws by means of the integrated four-wire measurement technology.

With the enormous charging power of the CCS megawatt charging connector, it is not just electric vehicles that can be charged in just a few minutes. For the first time, utility vehicles with large batteries can also be quickly ready for use again. They need high charging powers to achieve acceptable charging times. With its broad portfolio, Phoenix Contact also offers many other coordinated components for High Power Charging applications.
