PSENradar Live: Detecting, Counting and Tracking Movements in One System

The PSENradar range of radar sensors from Pilz now includes PSENradar live: this innovative radar sensor detects the presence of moving objects and people within a defined zone, counts them and tracks their movements. Rather than simply detecting individual events, planners are provided with information about actual movement patterns. PSENradar live offers greater transparency regarding the movements of objects and people, as well as traffic flows, thereby focusing equally on both safety and production efficiency.

The radar-based detection used in PSENradar live is non-contact and requires no additional components on the object being detected: there is no need for users to rely on tags, transponders or reflectors attached to people or vehicles. This significantly reduces the organisational effort and lowers investment and maintenance costs. No additional infrastructure or equipment needs to be installed with the Pilz radar sensor, so users require no training, making it more time-efficient.
Integrated system for presence detection, counting and tracking
PSENradar live combines three functions in one system: presence detection recognises whether there are people and objects present within the monitoring zone. For example, if a person is in a zone with poor visibility, PSENradar live indicates that the zone is not yet clear. The counting function counts every person and moving object within defined zones and detects whether an zone has been completely cleared. Using the tracking function, PSENradar live continuously assigns movements to people and objects and also analyses their directions of movement.
As a result, it is possible to plan traffic flows more safely: tracking avoids collisions in intralogistics areas and optimises routes and material flows. With its three functions, therefore, PSENradar live enables high plant availability and productivity, while at the same time increasing safety.
