With its Windows operating system and 4000+ pre-installed device drivers, Endress+Hauser’s new Field Xpert SMT50B industrial tablet is the only walk-around device a technician needs for service tasks in non-hazardous environments. No longer is there a need to carry around several monitoring devices to access all manner of instruments in the field.

With its high-performance and smart accessories, the SMT50B handles demanding tasks smoothly, with speed and reliability, in a wide range of industries: food and beverage, mining, power and energy, water and wastewater and more.

With it, a technician can configure devices, create reports to document the work, check and analyze the health of instruments including their Namur N107 status, and share and archive data.

The rugged yet slim, lightweight (1.04 kg) SMT50B is an easy, glove-touch-optimized tool with a 10.1-inch, high definition, anti-glare, sealed display to manage field devices throughout their entire life cycle, resulting in saving time and cost per device. With its IP66 rating, it’s the walkaround tablet for any season.

With minimal effort, technicians can start configuration right away after setting up a wireless, bus system or modem connection between the tablet and field device. The SMT50B has Wi-Fi 7E and Bluetooth 5.3 or wireless connectivity, with optional 5G as well as five ports and connectors (USB-C x 2 USB-A, RJ-45 and a microSD slot).  Universal protocol support is provided: HART, IO-Link, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Ethernet as well as Endress+Hauser service interfaces.

The SMT50B supports all Endress+Hauser and third-party instruments based on DTM, EDD, FDI and IODD technology and provides access to the Netilion IIoT ecosystem for data access, file sharing and document storage.  Endress+Hauser’s Heartbeat Verification is built in.

SMT50B keeps everything up to date automatically via updates over the internet. One year of software updates is included.

The tablet has a powerful Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16 GM of RAM and a 512-GB hard drive as well as front and rear cameras. Both active pen and passive pen are supported.

Each SMT50B can be accessorized with a passive pen, shoulder strap, rotating hand strap, detachable keyboard, magnetic mount plate, docking station, dual bay battery charger and much more for comfort and convenience.  The dual, long-lasting batteries are hot swappable.

The SMT50B’s extremely attractive price point shows that operators don’t have to pay a great deal more for a tablet also certified for use in hazardous (Ex Zone 2) work areas if they don’t have such a need.
