EM600 Series: Wi-Fi Enabled Multiprotocol Energy Analyzers from Carlo Gavazzi

Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group active in the design, manufacture, and marketing of electronic equipment, is proud to announce the launch of the EM630 W and EM640 W, the new Wi-Fi-enabled versions of the EM600 Series of three-phase energy analyzers.

Based on the proven EM600 B (Ethernet) range, the EM600 W adds secure wireless connectivity for fast and flexible integration into energy management systems. It supports both Wi-Fi 1-to-1 (Access Point) mode for direct configuration via the embedded webserver and Wi-Fi LAN operation for seamless existing network integration, providing a simple and reliable alternative or complement to Ethernet communication.

The EM600 W is a highly versatile multi-protocol platform, enabling Ethernet and/or Wi-Fi communication alongside Modbus RTU or M-Bus via plug-in modules (O1, S1, M1). This ensures maximum flexibility for both new installations and retrofit projects. MID-certified for fiscal and sub-billing applications, this analyzer guarantees accuracy and compliance with national regulations. It supports Modbus TCP/IP, HTTPS REST API, and features an integrated webserver for configuration and data monitoring.

An onboard datalogger, real-time clock, and NTP synchronization enable detailed energy analysis with hourly, daily, and monthly comparisons. Designed with advanced cybersecurity standards, the EM600 W ensures secure data communication and is RED DA certified and CRA-ready for long-term system integrity.

All features are housed in a compact, self-powered 4-DIN module, delivering the same high performance as the EM600 B, including fast refresh rates and SUNSPEC compliance.

Main Technical Features of the new Wi-Fi-enabled versions of the EM600 Series:

  • Wi-Fi Access Point and Wi-Fi LAN operation
  • Dual communication: Wi-Fi only, or Wi-Fi + Ethernet for maximum flexibility
  • Protocols: Modbus TCP/IP, HTTPS REST API, integrated webserver
  • Modbus RTU or M-Bus via plug-in sliding modules:
    • S1: Digital input and Modbus RTU
    • M1: Digital input and M-Bus
    • O1: Digital input and output
  • Energy datalogger with multi-period analysis
  • Real-time clock with NTP synchronization
  • Self-powered up to 480 V LL
  • Accuracy: Class 0.5S (EM630), Class 1 (EM640)
  • Compact 4-DIN housing with LCD display
  • Quick setup via webserver, software, and mobile app
  • SUNSPEC compliant
  • MID certified for fiscal applications
  • Advanced cybersecurity (RED DA certified, CRA-ready)
  • cULus approved (ANSI pending)

Developed in Carlo Gavazzi’s Italian competence center, the EM600 W expands the company’s connected energy-metering platform by combining flexibility, ease of integration, and cybersecurity. The addition of wireless Wi-Fi simplicity, multiprotocol capability and certified accuracy make it the EM600 Series ideal for industrial, building, renewable, and submetering applications.
