Solid Sands Highlights Continuous Qualification for Safety-Critical Toolchains at Embedded World 2026

Solid Sands B.V., the world-leading provider of testing and qualification technology for compilers and libraries, will present its latest work on continuous qualification at embedded world 2026 (10–12 March, Nuremberg). Visitors can meet the company in Hall 4, Booth 4-548, where Solid Sands will share a stand with software verification specialists BUGSENG.

Together, Solid Sands and BUGSENG will demonstrate how Continuous Qualification of C and C++ toolchains can be implemented in practice, combining Solid Sands’ expertise in compiler and library qualification with BUGSENG’s Eclair technology. Solid Sands’ growing focus on comprehensive qualification solutions for safety-critical development builds on the company’s recent acquisition of the Plum Hall compiler test suites.

Continuous Qualification recognizes that compilers and libraries are not qualified as abstract tools, but within a defined safety envelope: specific versions, option combinations and library subsets used by the application. As development progresses, toolchains and build systems inevitably evolve, potentially moving outside that envelope. Continuous Qualification supports both repeatable requalification and continuous conformance, automatically detecting changes in toolchain use and ensuring that objective evidence remains valid as software and regulatory expectations evolve.

Marianne Damstra, CEO of Solid Sands, explains: “Compiler and library qualification is often treated as something that happens once, at the beginning of a project, and then assumed to remain valid forever. This approach does not match the reality of modern software development. Toolchains can’t realistically be frozen anymore. Qualification is a living, continuous engineering process.”

The topic aligns closely with evolving European safety regulation, where compliance increasingly depends on demonstrating continuous control over software development toolchains, rather than relying solely on one-time certification activities. Sjoerd van der Zwaan, Chief Product Officer at Solid Sands, comments: “Across automotive, industrial automation, and robotics, regulation is increasingly shifting toward lifecycle assurance. Our technology continuously evaluates the safety envelope of each build against its baseline qualification, automatically re-qualifying when appropriate or alerting teams when intervention is required, enabling organizations to maintain confidence in their toolchains over time.”

Sjoerd van der Zwaan will also present at the embedded world Conference on 11 March 2026 at 13:45 with a talk entitled ‘Rust on the Road: Navigating Challenges and Opportunities in Automotive’, addressing the growing interest in new programming languages within safety-critical automotive development.

Discussions at the Solid Sands booth will focus on practical approaches to maintaining qualified toolchains, supporting continuous qualification workflows and managing compliance across automotive, industrial and emerging autonomous systems. More information is available at www.solidsands.nl

About Solid Sands

Since Amsterdam’s earliest days, its buildings have stood on deep foundation piles – driven through clay and peat to reach solid sand.  At Solid Sands, we take the same approach to software reliability. Our mission is to ensure that safety-critical software is built on a solid foundation. Our world runs on code, powering everything from medical robotics and autonomous vehicles to aerospace systems and railway networks. But software is only as strong as the trust behind it. That’s why we created SuperTest™ and SuperGuard™, the world’s most rigorous compiler validation and library test suites. By eliminating uncertainty and ensuring quality, we give our clients more than just testing tools; we give them Confidence by Design.
