PSENopt II Advanced: The world’s first safety light curtain for OSSD and IO-Link Safety

Pilz is expanding its range of safety light curtains to include a version with IO-Link Safety: With the safety light curtain PSENopt II Advanced from Pilz, users can benefit not only from the classic OSSD operating mode but also IO-Link Safety mode. PSENopt II Advanced is the world’s first safety light curtain to provide both live and single-beam data via its IO-Link Safety connectivity. This means that plants have higher availability and can be commissioned and maintained more quickly. The safety light curtain also offers an expanded function range: muting, blanking and reduced resolution enable smooth operational procedures.

Contents at a glance:

  • World’s first safety light curtain with IO-Link Safety connectivity: PSENopt II Advanced from Pilz
  • Safe single-beam evaluation for more complex applications, as well as advanced diagnostics via IO-Link Safety connectivity
  • PSENopt II Advanced offers additional functionality: muting, blanking and reduced resolution

Maintenance and commissioning are significantly quicker with PSENopt II Advanced with IO-Link Safety: safe single-beam data and live data for each beam allow additional protected fields to be customised individually. Thanks to safe single-beam evaluation, the safety light curtain can detect interruptions to the protected field through object measurement. This function also enables material flows to be monitored and safeguarded. This ensures smooth material transport, particularly in more complex applications with different object sizes, positions or transport speeds. With the PSENopt II Configurator, live data makes it easier to align and therefore commission the PSENopt II Advanced.

Safety light curtains for customisable, safe applications

PSENopt II Advanced avoids unnecessary machine downtimes, particularly in material-handling applications, in areas with flexible, customisable protected fields, or in muting-based transport processes. Thanks to its high resistance to shock and impact of up to 50 g, PSENopt II Advanced also guarantees safety even in rugged industrial environments. At the same time, PSENopt II Advanced protects operators from hazardous machine movements – such as rotary or rotational movements – up to PL e. Users can simplify their configuration and commissioning using the new functions in the PSENopt II Advanced Configurator – such as partial muting and customised zone configuration, reduced resolution, floating and blanking.

With the PSENopt II Advanced, Pilz is presenting the world’s first safety light curtain with IO-Link Safety mode. New diagnostic options and functions such as muting, blanking and reduced resolution make applications more flexible and ensure reliable operation even in rugged industrial environments.
