Weidmüller Achieves Nearly One Billion Euros in Sales Despite Challenging Market Conditions
Weidmüller is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year.

Investments in company-owned sites lay the foundation for future growth

Following exceptionally strong growth in 2021 and 2022, the electrical connectivity and automation specialist Weidmüller has experienced a decline in sales for the second consecutive year. In 2024, revenue fell by approximately 11 percent compared to the previous year, reaching EUR 980 million. The decline in sales is attributed to a weak economy. “Given the challenging market conditions, we had to accept a drop in revenue. Last year’s result fell short of our expectations – the market correction following the growth trajectory proved more persistent than we had anticipated,” says Dr Sebastian Durst, CEO of the Weidmüller Group, headquartered in Detmold.

As in previous years, the global technology company continued to invest in long-term projects and the expansion of its sites to create the optimal conditions for future growth. A portion of the €56 million invested in 2024 was allocated to the construction of the new electronics plant in Detmold, which is scheduled to open this autumn. With the new facility, Weidmüller is reinforcing its commitment to the region while alsosending a strong signal for the future of Germany as an industrial hub. The project is one of the largest single investments in Weidmüller’s history and emphasises the company’s commitment to innovation and pioneering technological achievements.

The electrical connectivity and automation company also invested in expanding its sales, development, and production centre in Richmond, USA, which was completed in 2024.

A recent uptick in incoming orders within the electrical industry, along with its positive impact on the broader economy, gives the company reason for optimism. “We are confident that this positive trend will continue, despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties. With our products and solutions, we drive electrification, automation, and digitalisation – contributing to a more liveable and sustainable world,” says Weidmüller CEO Dr. Sebastian Durst. He adds: “Weidmüller is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year, which is a tremendous source of motivation. Our pioneering spirit and innovative strength will continue to shape the future of industrial connectivity.”

Originally established in the textile industry, Weidmüller has evolved into a key player in electrification, automation, and digitalisation. To mark this milestone, the company is celebrating with the ‘Orange Weeks’—an exciting customer programme featuring special workshops, exclusive events, and unique experiences.
