With the HELUCHAIN MULTISPEED 522-TPE UL/CSA, HELUKABEL is launching a new version of its proven drag chain cable. The completely redesigned cable offers users a whole range of benefits that are particularly useful in demanding environments: from outdoor crane systems exposed to fluctuating temperatures and weather conditions to pick-and-place applications that are highly dynamic and have small installation spaces.
The requirements being placed on drag chains found in machine building and plant engineering continue to increase. On the one hand, the systems have to cope with longer travel distances, higher accelerations and speeds, and on the other hand, the available installation space is shrinking due to increasingly compact designs. Therefore cables used in the drag chains must be highly flexible and resilient, but also as thin and light as possible.
With the HELUCHAIN MULTISPEED 522-TPE UL/CSA, HELUKABEL offers the ideal solution for this challenge as it’s development builds upon the the proven MULTISPEED 500-TPE UL/CSA drag chain cable. Made with an innovative TPE outer jacket material, it is up to 10 percent thinner and four percent lighter than comparable polyurethane (PUR) versions, while maintaining a very high abrasion resistance. This saves users valuable space in tightly packed chains. The lower weight also allows for greater dynamics in the application. Another innovation is the temperature range, which has been extended both upwards and downwards. This significantly increases the service life of the cable in many applications.
Another completely new feature is the integrated ripcord, which allows the HELUCHAIN MULTISPEED 522-TPE UL/CSA to be stripped over longer lengths in a convenient, quick and safe manner. This significantly reduces installation time. Thanks to its UL and CSA approvals, export-oriented machine builders and plant engineering firms can use the cable internationally, thus avoiding stocking multiple products and simplifying their documentation.
The proven advantages of the MULTISPEED series are also found in the latest version. These include the small bending radius of five times the cable diameter, the gusset-filling jacket for optimum conductor guidance, and the pair/bundle stranding of seven conductors to distribute the forces acting on them evenly. The HELUCHAIN MULTISPEED 522-TPE UL/CSA is also available in a shielded version with maximum coverage to minimize electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) interference.
With almost 50 million bending cycles, HELUKABEL has tested the new cable extensively in its own test laboratories.
