Pepperl+Fuchs: Rugged LC20 Loop Detector with Diagnostic Tool and Intuitive App

November 14, 2019

Loop detectors are used for noncontact activation of parking barriers and access controls, signal output for traffic lights, and control of external and industrial gates. The new LC20 loop detector from Pepperl+Fuchs, combined with the induction loops installed in the ground, detects various vehicle combinations and quickly diagnoses and visualizes the data via a user-friendly app. Use the universal sensor system for modern vehicle detection.

Intelligent Features for Increased Functional Reliability

To ensure the optimal operating frequency, the LC20 loop detector uses automatic frequency selection to check the detector environment during installation and operation. The loop detector reliably blocks transmission frequencies that are identical, similar, or already in use. This way, even complex, multi-lane access control systems can be installed quickly and smoothly.

From scooters to trucks and trailers—the LC20 detects a wide range of vehicles with an integrated automatic sensitivity adjuster. The loop detector uses this feature to compensate for weak signals, like those from oversized or overloaded vehicles, by temporarily increasing the sensitivity to maximum power and then resetting it.

The Power Fail Memory also makes the new loop detector from Pepperl+Fuchs ideal for sensitive applications. If there is a power failure, the sensor continues to seamlessly detect the stored parameters as soon as the power supply is restored. Users can also define a specific behavior for such cases—for example, opening or closing a barrier.

Easy to Operate with Diagnostic Tool and Diagnostic App

The diagnostic tool and app allows simplify documentation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of the new LC20 loop detector. Thanks to the intuitive user interface, parameters such as frequency response and sensitivity can be seen at a glance—even during installation. In addition to detailed error diagnostics, the app also visualizes short-term changes. This enables users to react to trends quickly and make appropriate adjustments.

Benefits of the LC20 Loop Detector

  • Rugged, durable loop detector for reliable detection of all vehicles
  • Diagnostic tool and app: readout via smartphone simplifies commissioning and makes device easy to use
  • Changes can be visualized for simple diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Automatic frequency selection and automatic sensitivity boost simplify commissioning, even in unfavorable conditions
  • Reliable operation: fail-safe and memory backup features in the event of a power outage or loop error
