Pilz's Small Controller PNOZmulti 2 Now MR Compliant

TÜV confirms future-proofing for machine manufacturers

The safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 from Pilz already fulfils the requirements of the upcoming EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. An EU type examination certificate in accordance with Article 25, issued by TÜV, confirms compliance.

This means that machine manufacturers will benefit early on – even before the regulation comes into force on 20 January 2027.

Your benefits at a glance:

  • Early planning certainty for new projects
  • TÜV-confirmed MR compliance
  • Tested safety solution reduces the engineering workload
  • Faster CE marking of entire machines
  • Fewer adjustments to future requirements
  • Legally compliant market launch in the EU

Fully prepared for the new requirements

The Machinery Regulation replaces the existing directive and places higher demands on safety and risk evaluation. In future, safety components such as small controllers must be evaluated independently.

This is where PNOZmulti 2 comes in: the certified solution helps manufacturers develop MR compliant machinery now and minimises regulatory risks.

A more efficient approach to a safe machine concept

Confirmed compliance significantly reduces the engineering workload and the approval process. Manufacturers benefit from:

  • Simplified integration of a tested solution
  • Reduced documentation workload
  • Greater legal certainty
  • Faster market access

More safety for human and machine

The small controller performs central safety functions such as:

  • E-STOP
  • safe monitoring
  • Selective shutdown in the case of danger

This allows risks to be recognised and controlled at an early stage.

Future-proof solution

With PNOZmulti 2, companies have a solution that is already prepared for future regulatory requirements. This means that new machine projects can be implemented early, efficiently and safely.

Complete safety solutions

For a consistent safety concept, the small controller PNOZmulti 2 is ideal for combining with other safe automation technology from Pilz. Flexible, complete solutions for a widest range of machine applications are the result when used in conjunction with safe sensor technology PSEN and the control and signal devices PIT.

The safe sensors PSEN reliably detect safety gates, positions or hazardous movements and supply the relevant signals directly to the small controller PNOZmulti 2. Using control and signal devices PIT, operating, signalling and diagnostic functions can easily be integrated into the machine concept.

Thus machine manufacturers benefit from a coordinated solution comprising controller, sensor technology and operation – meaning less work on the interfaces, simplified project configuration and a one-stop, holistically safe machine concept.

Safe Small Controller PNOZmulti 2 Receives UL Certification for “Programmable Safety Controllers”

Plant and machinery manufacturers in the USA, but also those based internationally with an export market in the USA, will be delighted: the configurable safety controller PNOZmulti 2 has received UL listing in the “Programmable Safety Controllers” category. This listing makes it much easier for plant and machinery manufacturers to provide evidence that the controller they are using is suitable for safety-related functions, particularly if the plant and machinery falls under the requirements of NFPA 79 – the “Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery”.
