ITC 101: Cold Weather & Cable Ties

Cold Weather and Cable Ties

Protect Your Cable Installations Year-Round
As temperatures drop, standard cable ties can become brittle, inflexible, and prone to breakage — especially during installation. That’s why it’s critical to understand how to store, handle, and choose the right cable ties for cold environments. ITC Electrical shares tips about cold weather and cable ties.

Cold Weather Tips for Cable Tie Use

Let ties warm up before use
Always allow cable ties to reach room temperature before applying them in cold conditions.

Keep ties sealed
Unopened bags should remain in the corrugated master carton. When opened, reseal bags immediately to preserve flexibility.

Avoid freezing storage
Do not leave cable ties in unheated vehicles or exposed to freezing air. Cold makes standard ties brittle and difficult to handle.

Choose cold-weather-rated ties
ITC’s Cold Weather Cable Ties are specially formulated with additives for flexibility at extreme temperatures — ideal for outdoor, refrigeration, and food-processing applications.

Why ITC Cable Ties?
ITC offers a wide range of CSA/UL approved cable ties designed for dependable performance — even down to -40 degree celucius. Available in lengths from 80 to 1224 mm and UV-resistant options, they’re bundled with accessory like mounting for clean, efficient installs.
