Cognex Launches High-Speed Vision Tunnels for Logistics Industry

November 30, 2022

Cognex Corporation, a leader in industrial machine vision, introduces a series of Modular Vision Tunnels designed for high-speed, high-throughput logistics operations. Built upon Cognex’s DataMan® image-based barcode reading platform, these tunnel solutions accurately read codes on packages at high speeds with short gaps, giving an edge to companies that want to increase sortation throughput and descrease processing times for e-commerce and store fulfillment.

“Whether it is new greenfield sites or retrofits to improve the efficiency of existing sites, logistics customers want to be up and running in a short amount of time while maintaining high standards of performance,” said Shweta Kabadi, Cognex Vice President, Solutions. “Modular Vision Tunnels allow for fast installation and easy retrofits, ensuring distribution centers achieve their expected levels of capacity, throughput, and accuracy.”

Five- and six-sided Modular Vision Tunnels feature DataMan 470 image-based barcode readers that use advanced decoding technology and algorithms to achieve up to 99.9% read rates, leading to greater throughput and traceability at inbound, outbound, and sortation areas. Setting up these solutions is quick and easy – all tunnels are pre-configured with pre-built reader modules and can be set up within a day, greatly minimizing downtime and delivering fast ROI. Modular Vision Tunnels also offer 3D barcode assignment to ensure the right barcodes are assigned to the right packages to minimize rework.

Every Modular Vision Tunnel includes Cognex’s Edge Intelligence (EI) data analytics software platform, which acquires real-time performance insights for process improvement. EI also offers full device management, further simplifying the commissioning and setup process.
