Leaders to Convene to Strengthen Canada’s Economic Future at Critical Time

Rethinking the nation’s policies and systems to ensure a stronger economic foundation for Canadians

On November 5, 2025, a CSA Public Policy Pathways Conference Building a Thriving Canadian Economy will be held at The Quay, Toronto Region Board of Trade, 100 Queen’s Quay East. The full-day event will bring together leaders, thinkers and changemakers to address pressing policy issues and advance solutions to strengthen Canada’s economic resilience.

The event will include a keynote address by Armine Yalnizyan, economist and columnist, and panel discussions on topics including:

  • Boosting Canada’s innovation advantage
  • Centering equity in economic policy
  • Redefining Canada’s trading future
  • Unlocking prosperity through competition

Hosted by Canadian journalist and author Steve Paikin, the conference will feature the following speakers:

  • Danielle Goldfarb, CSA Public Policy Fellow and Senior Fellow at The Munk School
  • Kaylie Tiessen, Chief Economist at the Canadian SHIELD institute
  • Ryan Manucha, Expert on interprovincial trade in Canada
  • Marwa Abdou, Senior Research Director at the Business Data Lab (BDL), Canadian Chamber of Commerce

Canada stands at a pivotal moment in its economic history. The country faces a complex mix of challenges, from a looming recession risk and trade vulnerabilities to deepening inequality and stagnating productivity. There is growing momentum to rethink the foundations of Canada’s policies and systems to unleash innovative potential, accelerate growth, and ensure all Canadians have a stronger economic footing.
