This Tray Former Is Only Open for Efficiency, PILZ’s International Success Story
Extreme flexibility and fast format change are the distinguishing features of the 1200 s tray former from Sema Systemtechnik: the cardboard blanks are fed in at one second intervals and folded, glued and sealed in several production stages. From a risk analysis it was clear that an effective safety solution had to be found for the situation where there was “no cardboard in front of the feed opening” – a solution that would restrict neither the operator nor the process. SEMA opted for Pilz’s TÜV SÜD-certified solution for safe cardboard feed.

Panduit Joins Wesco Utility Grade Infrastructure Program
Panduit Corp., a leading global provider of network infrastructure solutions, has joined the Wesco Utility Grade Infrastructure program. Utility Grade Infrastructure (UTG) is a technology platform and assurance program that delivers UTG-rated cabling solutions to support specific applications, performance requirements, and life cycle needs for smart buildings. Through the program, a selection of Panduit copper cables have been third-party tested and verified by UL to meet superior performance attributes. Of main interest to project developers is the extended transmission reach of copper channels: up to 185 meters instead of the industry standard 100-meter channel length. UTG-certified cables are available in North America today.

Waterloo Wins Backing for Training in 2D Materials
Recently, a key puzzle piece fell into place with the announcement of $1.65 million in federal funding for a joint training program involving the University of Waterloo and partners in Germany. Support from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) gives the green light to a nine-year initiative to train dozens of graduate students and help bring promising new two-dimensional materials out of the laboratory and into the marketplace.
