Swisslog and KUKA present joint development

March 28, 2019

The variety of products in small parts warehouses is overwhelming. The same applies to packaging. More and more orders are being placed online. This is changing the logistics industry. Swisslog has now introduced the next generation of its robot-based order picking solution: ItemPiQ. It uses new robot technology and an intelligent vision system for high picking performance and functions for machine learning.

“KUKA and Swisslog offer flexible solutions that enable step-by-step growth in the logistics industry,” says Peter Mohnen, interim CEO of KUKA. “Intralogistics and automation complement each other perfectly. With ItemPiQ, we are demonstrating how our competencies can be put to profitable use in a joint solution for our customers,” adds Dr. Christian Baur, CEO of Swisslog Logistics Automation. The ItemPiQ solution is the perfect example of how KUKA and Swisslog know-how can be interlinked.

Solutions such as ItemPiQ serve the purpose of providing users with efficiency and competitive advantages in their warehouse logistics. Powerful, integrative control software, innovative robot solutions and machine learning are the components that make these solutions stand out.
